Description
MAX7219 is an integrated serial input / output common-cathode display drivers, which connects the microprocessor and 8 bit 7-segment digital LED display, you can also connect a bar graph display or 64 separate LED. Includes an on-chip type B BCD encoders, multi-channel scanning loop, segment word driver, but also a 8×8 static RAM that stores each data. Only one external register is used to set the current of each LED segment.
The 8-digit seven-segment module with the Max7219 driver needs only three pins to start up and work, in addition to two power pins.
This module supports I2C protocol and is compatible with Arduino and ESP boards.
Considering that this module’s library is developed under Arduino, you can set up this display simply and as quickly as possible.
To use this module with Arduino, you only need 3 IO pins.
Also, if you want to use several modules together, just connect the modules together and you don’t need 3 more IO pins for the next modules.
Application
Time and date display
Travel information display in cars
Temperature and humidity display in temperature and humidity controllers
Display of battery charge/voltage in battery testers
Display of household appliances such as hood, refrigerator, air conditioner, etc.
Status displays and working mode in the elevator control circuit
Reducing wiring and circuit complexity, increasing system efficiency
